Ms. Marina Croy

Education and Experience

  • Marina “Ani” Croy studied geology with a focus on aqueous geochemistry at Washington and Lee University in Virginia. She graduated cum laude with a B.S. in Geology and a B.A. in Theater. For her undergraduate thesis, she co-authored an article on manganese, redox conditions and aquifer lithology of the Shenandoah Valley in Springer Nature’s Environmental Geochemistry and Health.

  • From the Keck Geology Website, ” The Keck Geology Consortium consists of twelve liberal arts colleges focused on enriching undergraduate education through the development of high quality research experiences. Each summer, with support from the National Science Foundation (NSF), the Consortium offers a Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) Program to engage undergraduate students in four – to – five – week field and laboratory research projects in the earth sciences. Advanced students continue their summer research projects during the following academic year using cutting-edge laboratory techniques.” After completing this program, Marina presented her research at a professional conference.  She also spent 2 years as a lab assistant and part-time assistant researcher at the Washington and Lee University Geology lab while finishing up her research.
  • Marina has three years of exclusively professional experience as a wardrobe specialist and stage manager in the world of performance arts and live events. She worked as a wardrobe specialist at Oregon Shakespeare Festival and Berkeley Repertory Theatre and a stage manager at various live entertainment events around the country. She has worked on live productions of RENT, Irving Berlin’s a White Christmas, Romeo and Juliet, Macbeth, Three Musketeers, Twelfth Night, Where We Belong,  Alchemy of Gender, Virgins to Villains: My Journey With Shakespeare’s Women, Smote This, A Comedy About God and Other Serious $HIT, Lizard Boy, Coriolanus, Behfarmaheen(If You Please), Much Ado About Nothing, and The Matchbox Magic Flute.
  • An avid fan of film, gaming, and live music, Marina has held paid positions as a stage manager at Holiday Matsuri’s 2023 Anime Convention in Orlando, the Genesis 9 Esports Convention in San Jose, and smaller, regional-based esports tournaments, conventions, and live entertainment events. She also spent four years in college stage managing, managing a build shop, and designing costumes at the semi-professional level.
